"My name is Jennifer Ward, I am 76 years old and have been practicing yoga for the past fifteen years. I started practicing yoga in 2009 when I was 61 years old to help a friend.

In 2009 I joined Madeline Simpson’s gentle yoga class. I was surprised to find how inflexible I was and couldn’t even do the simplest postures. I have poor posture, arthritis and a herniated disc in my lower back.The benefits I have from practicing yoga is an improved posture, I have learned to strengthen the muscles in my chest, back and shoulders that has brought my body

more into alignment. I’m no longer hunched over from years of working on a computer at my desk My joints are more flexible, and my balance has improved. I have strengthened my back and stomach muscles which resulted in a significant reduction in

back pain. I can now practice on a more intermediate level.
